Judith Chamberlain (February 28, 1893, died September 18, 1965) was born Judith Rosenfeld in Portland, Oregon. She assumed the surname of her presumed biological father, Frederick O. Chamberlain, a prominent medical doctor and broker in San Francisco, California. Chamberlain was a student of Max Weber and Ernst Leyden. She specialized in still lifes and landscapes, and exhibited at San Francisco Art Association (1918-1920) and the Salon des Indépendents in Paris (1923). Judith's lifelong bond to fellow artist Rowena Meeks Abdy was established through Frederick Chamberlain, who first married Rowena Abdy's widowed mother, Anna Fischer, who died in 1898, and then Judith's widowed mother, Helene Levy, in 1903.
Rowena Fischer Meeks Abdy (born April 24, 1887 in Vienna, Austria ; died August 18, 1945 in San Francisco, California) was an American modernist painter. She studied at the Mark Hopkins Institute of Art, specialized in landscapes, and worked in Northern California.
